“Skill And Confidence Are An Unconquered Army.”
– George Herbert
My two cents on Confidence:
The ability to believe in your capability. Confidence just doesn’t bloom out of anywhere. You have to continuously put yourself into situations wherein you walk into uncharted territories & shoot your shot.
As someone who used to question her abilities in her school life, I never put myself out there. “Thinking about what other people might say or how am I going to do this?” “I can’t do this” or “I don’t have the skills”. It was always one excuse or the other to stop me from doing what I wanted to do.
These self-limiting beliefs made me miss out on many opportunities, but as I grew older and got into my degree college. I promised myself that I’m going to make the most out of it.
Covid-19 pandemic was a blessing in disguise for me. Yes, I admit at first it was a scary process considering what went down but at the end of the day, you have to look out for yourself and your loved ones. I started researching new topics, learned about spirituality, applied for a non-profit organization, picked up some new skills, interacting with many people, pushed myself out of my comfort zone, learned about the fundamentals of fitness, etc.
I started showing up for myself. One of the things that I learned is that “People are always going to doubt you or the things that you sought after, don’t let it be you.” But once they start seeing the outcome, they’re going to ask you “how did you do it?”
Now, here’s the trickier part. Success can be a harmful drug that you would chase after if you let it get to your head. Don’t do it to attain fame or followers. Do it because you want to grow and learn more about yourself.
Don’t let these external voices win over you. Navigate your focus to that tiny little gentle voice that keeps giving you subtle probes to achieve the things you want. You’re only here for a short amount of time. When you look around, you’ll find animosity but for fuck’s sake, don’t create animosity within you. It’s scary to witness what’s happening around the world.
To conclude my point, “When you want something different, you have to move differently. You cannot sit in one place and hope that maybe one fine day you’ll be happy or you’ll get what you want. Progress doesn’t happen overnight. It takes an immense amount of dedication, time, effort & energy. I’m very well aware of the fact that it’s easier said than done but you have to take accountability for your own life. The world will accommodate you. There’s abundant for everyone. Have you ever seen someone say “oh, maybe I should breathe less air because there’s not enough of it?” No right?
You’re just one decision away from living your dream life!!!!!
Let. That. Sink .In
A side note: This write-up is not an attempt to brag about any achievements. It’s just an attempt to motivate other folks to explore certain aspects of their own life. It’s a gentle probe to figure out what sets your soul on fire.
